Datadog
Datadog is a 3rd party service which collects metrics and provides aggregates. There is a suite of functionality provided on top of those aggregates, as well as other monitoring and alerting tools.

Dashboards
a Dashboard is set of widgets, and can be used to monitor systems. There are two practices to creating dashboards - all relevant metrics of a given service, or all relevant metrics to a of a given product.
Monitors
These are alerts. Monitors can post to slack and can be configured with a target metric and a target threshold. If the metric breaches the threshold, a slack post will trigger.
Metrics
This tracks all available metrics. Click around, datadog collects a ton of hyper-specific metrics. There is support for custom metrics as well.
UX Monitoring
This includes the "Synthetic Tests". These are UI automation tests. Install a chrome plugin, create a test, and use the record button to click through our app and record a new test. Set the test runners based on browser and location, the monitor, and the schedule here too.
